When Mothers Must Prevail

August 21, 2003

The "peace process" has run its deadly course. While politicians happily play their political chess, move and countermove, Jewish children scream and die. While polished men in tailored suits with oh-so-correct diplomatic words refine their deceptions, Jewish clothes drip with blood. While ambassadors and envoys and presidents and prime ministers speak niceties and conjure yet more devilish "peace plans", Jewish children are impaled and disfigured with salvoes of flying metal fragments.

While Hamas and Islamic Jihad and Fatah and Hezbollah sit intact, plotting their next spillage of blood, politicians of all nationalities talk and talk and talk. Their nefarious project, this conception of perdition, this covenant with death, has yielded its fruit. It must not be refined, corrected, adjusted. It must be repudiated, renounced, trounced, tossed defiantly back to the pits of hell from whence it emerged.

No matter if George W. Bush does not approve. To hell with his "vision" of appeasement! Does he come and clean the blood off Jerusalem streets? Does he pick the pieces of Jewish flesh off buildings and cars and street lights? Does he console a wildly hysterical mother who cannot locate her months-old infant in the carnage and chaos? Does he care for the daily needs of the Israeli amputees and invalids cruelly torn with shrapnel from Islamic savages?

All of those marvelous phrases crafted by professional wordsmiths, those smooth and easy tongue-rollers we have heard so often must be banished from discussion. "Land for peace"! Neither side of that equation is valid. "Peace of the brave"! Actually this means death of the foolish. "A new middle east"! The realization of what that entails is painfully clear now, a middle east devoid of Jews. "A peaceful and democratic Palestine"! That devious monster now being conceived must be aborted immediately.

How long will the Israeli politicians play along with this mad charade? How long will the Israeli people tolerate the deceptions of the Quartet? For certain, the day will come when Israel will, regardless of the consequences, toss away all once and forever all talk of appeasement of terrorists. As an American, I say to Israelis, do it now. Let the White House and State Department protest and scream and rant and sanction all they wish.

There comes a time when dignity must prevail over rhetoric, when honor must prevail over tokens, when mothers must prevail over diplomats. Now is that time.
