What child is this?
The astonishing answer to that most profound of questions has crucial relevance to your life, your very existence. For you, the correct personal answer to that question unlocks the answers to all of the other questions of life.

What child is this?
If Jesus was merely another sage or mystic or philosopher, then we can take or leave his wisdom at our choosing. If, however, he was the author of life, as he claimed, then we reject his words at our own peril. Those words he gave were not merely helpful pieces of advice, but essential for receiving the eternal life that God freely offers.

What child is this?
If he is the Savior of mankind, then apart from Him we are indeed in peril. He was a man on a mission, but not just to do good and live a selfless life and teach God's message. His mission was to suffer an undeserved ignominious death on our behalf.

What child is this?
If the child that was born came to earth to be the atonement for our offenses against God, and endured a horrible death solely for our benefit, how can we so easily ignore his concern for us? If he in the supreme act of love paid that awful price so that we could live, what should we expect if we spurn that love?

What child is this?
To honor him as we should, we must acknowledge the essence of his being, that he was not only a man but is the Eternal One, the Divine resurrected Son of God. But we dare not give just intellectual assent to this fact. We must from the depths of our soul bow to him in worship, receiving his free gift of forgiveness, and promising to trust and follow him as his disciples.
