God's prophet Haggai was sent to inspire the people to begin the rebuilding of His temple. But he was also sent with a special message for one significant man, a descendant of the royal line of David. This man, Zerubbabel, served as governor of Judah for the exiles who had returned. God confided his plans for important future events to this man, telling of a day when a man who would be one of his descendants, the Messiah Jesus, would come to "shake the heavens and the earth."
