[20:00] <Bezalel3> 2Shalom, Bob....

[20:00] <BobWestbrook> Hi Bez!

[20:00] <BobWestbrook> And The Interested! :)

[20:01] <BobWestbrook> Better than The Bored or The Complacent! :)

[20:01] <Bezalel3> 2Good, someone said something. I was wondering if I was "really" connected. :-)

[20:01] <BobWestbrook> Yessir, this is live! :)

[20:02] <Bezalel3> 2Ezek 33-36 tonight?

[20:02] <BobWestbrook> Yes, or as far as we get

[20:02] <Bezalel3> 2k, good

[20:02] <Bezalel3> 2Did you ever hear from Stan?

[20:02] <BobWestbrook> Yes, he was fine, just in the middle of a chaotic schedule and didn't hear the alarm

[20:03] <BobWestbrook> Which is just as well, because he had too many things going

[20:03] <Bezalel3> 2Wow, that's really busy....good he got some needed rest.

[20:03] <BobWestbrook> 3 AM is hard even with a light schedule :)

[20:03] <Bezalel3> 2Yes.

[20:04] <Bezalel3> 2At least we had our "friend" to entertain us.

[20:04] <BobWestbrook> So how are you? How large was your Valentines Day doghouse?

[20:04] <BobWestbrook> Yes :)

[20:04] <BobWestbrook> A friend of ours runs a florist shop, and she said day after VDay "oops" sales are significant :)

[20:05] <Bezalel3> 2She hasn't brought down the hammer for Valentine's day yet. I made an effort to respond to her gifts.

[20:05] <BobWestbrook> ahh, good :)

[20:05] <Bezalel3> 2She gave me a book "Daily Blessings for My Husband."

[20:05] <BobWestbrook> Very Nice!!

[20:05] <Bezalel3> 2Gave her a hug and kiss for today's blessing.

[20:05] <BobWestbrook> :)

[20:06] <tryChrist> Howdy all

[20:06] <Bezalel3> 2Hi Miller

[20:06] <BobWestbrook> Wonder where everyone is tonight

[20:06] <tryChrist> is stan alive/awake?

[20:06] <BobWestbrook> Yes, he's fine :) Just didn't hear the alarm

[20:07] <tryChrist> thank G-d!

[20:07] <Bezalel3> 2I think the IMB login is here just to open the channel, isn't Bob?

[20:07] <BobWestbrook> Yes

[20:07] <BobWestbrook> Hi Sparrow!

[20:07] <Bezalel3> 2Hi Sparrow.

[20:07] <Sparrow26> Shalom Stan, Bob and everyone!!

[20:07] <BobWestbrook> Here in Tampa, we have a real controversy at the University of South Florida over a Muslim professor

[20:08] <tryChrist> 6i need a color for the evening, how this?

[20:08] <Bezalel3> 2Ali Asran??? or something like that.

[20:08] IMB-Seeker [~IMB-Seeker@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has joined #IsraelMyBeloved

[20:08] <Bezalel3> 2That's nice Miller

[20:08] <BobWestbrook> He has been suspended and is expected to be dismissed because of ....

[20:08] <IMB-Seeker> Shalom

[20:08] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Bez, that's him

[20:08] <tryChrist> 6Hey Seeker

[20:08] <BobWestbrook> Hi Seeker!

[20:08] <IMB-Seeker> greetings to all

[20:08] <BobWestbrook> Alleged but unproven ties to Islamic Jihad

[20:08] <Sparrow26> 2Hi, Seeker

[20:08] <Bezalel3> 2I watch Bill O'Reilly on Fox, and he has covered it extensively.

[20:09] <BobWestbrook> Yes, that's the one

[20:09] <BobWestbrook> A few years ago, one of his collegues....

[20:09] <BobWestbrook> who was a member of the same local Muslim group and also a professor...

[20:09] <Bezalel3> 2He has raised funds, brought in guest speakers, and spoke himself in support of Hamas, hasn't he?

[20:10] <BobWestbrook> abruptly left and then immediately showed up in the Middle East as the LEADER of Islamic Jihad

[20:10] <BobWestbrook> which he is to this day, I believe

[20:10] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Bez

[20:10] <BobWestbrook> and also has made outrageous anti-Israel statements

[20:10] <BobWestbrook> Today, there was a protest of students on campus, some for him and some against

[20:11] <Bezalel3> 2I'm surprised the media hasn't made a deal out of his firing (not his support).

[20:11] <BobWestbrook> a number of his fellow professors have come to his defense

[20:11] <BobWestbrook> Yes, well, around here they have

[20:11] <Bezalel3> 2Gee, why am I not surprised??????

[20:11] <BobWestbrook> made a big deal, largely sympathetic

[20:11] <tryChrist> 6just goes to show you, that if you educate people young, then you can send them into the world believing anything

[20:11] <BobWestbrook> Right, Miller

[20:12] <BobWestbrook> USF is apparently a hotbed of Islamic activity

[20:12] <BobWestbrook> with still apparent ties to Islamic Jihad, but they cannot prove it

[20:12] <BobWestbrook> though the government did have "secret evidence" against Al-Arian

[20:12] <BobWestbrook> that may lead to his deportation

[20:13] <Bezalel3> 2A story I heard in the Navy: When a chief was asked a really stupid question by an ensign (officer), he answered the question. Then when the ensign left, he stated "That's why I won't pay to send my kid to college. You spend 4 years making them stupid"

[20:13] <tryChrist> 6after the damage has been done already...

[20:13] <BobWestbrook> :)

[20:13] <BobWestbrook> yes

[20:14] <BobWestbrook> Many young people have their faith attacked in college

[20:14] <Bezalel3> 2It is hard to support educators today.

[20:14] <BobWestbrook> Anyway, on to Israel - I guess you heard that Sharon made a major policy speech tonight?

[20:14] <tryChrist> 6I'll put my two cents in in a couple of words... we homeschool!

[20:14] kmmullins [~kmmullins@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has joined #IsraelMyBeloved

[20:14] <Bezalel3> 2Good idea, Miller.

[20:14] <Sparrow26> 2Yes, Arutz 7 had quoted encouraging words

[20:15] <IMB-Seeker> Hi Karen

[20:15] <BobWestbrook> Yes, indeed, Miller

[20:15] <BobWestbrook> Hi KM!

[20:15] <tryChrist> 6what is his new plan of attack

[20:15] <Bezalel3> 2Hi Karen.

[20:15] <kmmullins> Hi allyn

[20:15] <BobWestbrook> from Ha'aretz: "We decided to establish buffer zones to achieve security separation," Sharon said in the 15-minute address, broadcast from his office in Jerusalem. "We decided to start immediately designating buffer areas and establishing barriers along their length." The zones, he said, "will contribute to the security of all Israeli citizens, everywhere."

[20:15] <IMB-Seeker> glad to see you made it tonight

[20:15] <Sparrow26> 2He promised more security, enlarging buffer zones

[20:16] <BobWestbrook> Until now, most in the Likud have vociferously objected to any suggestion of a physical separation between Israel and the West Bank, fearing the line of separation will ultimately serve as the future border of a Palestinian state. Sharon has stated on several occasions that he is not opposed to a Palestinian state, but that this would encompass at most 50 percent of the West Bank.

[20:16] <kmmullins> i was beinging think no one else was here

[20:16] <IMB-Seeker> what in the world does that mean..a buffer zone...

[20:16] <BobWestbrook> That is, I think, the problem with the "separation" plan.....

[20:16] <IMB-Seeker> what have they got now?

[20:16] <BobWestbrook> it will tend to solidify "borders"

[20:17] <tryChrist> 6buffer zones? how are they set up? a type of sterile zone?

[20:17] <BobWestbrook> Now they have a loose system of checkpoints and restrictions, fairly easily circumvented

[20:17] <BobWestbrook> Good question, Miller - sounds unworkable to me

[20:17] <Bezalel3> 2A Berlin wall?

[20:17] <Sparrow26> 2I imagine that Mr. Sharon was speaking of creating like no-man zones

[20:18] <BobWestbrook> That's what it would require, Bez, but they are not going to that extent

[20:18] <Bezalel3> 2I wonder if the buffer zones will be free fire....

[20:18] <tryChrist> 6anything moves get shot at?

[20:18] <BobWestbrook> if a terrorist wants to get through, he will get through

[20:18] <IMB-Seeker> they already have a problem with the young soldiers not wanting to participate

[20:19] <BobWestbrook> To me, it sounds like a short-sighted plan bound to fail, and perhaps it is a failure to face up to the inevitable

[20:19] SabraFarrell [~SabraFarrell@jproxy15.talkcity.com] has joined #IsraelMyBeloved

[20:19] <IMB-Seeker> kind of reminds me of the neutral zone on Star Trek

[20:19] <Bezalel3> 2Anyone willing to die in an attempt can do just about anything they wish.....just a matter of how big the event.

[20:19] <IMB-Seeker> self monitored

[20:19] <BobWestbrook> :)

[20:19] <Sparrow26> 2I was really encouraged because the speech didn't focus on withdrawal from the settlements

[20:19] <BobWestbrook> Hi Sabra!

[20:19] <BobWestbrook> Good point, Sparrow

[20:19] <IMB-Seeker> Hi Sabra

[20:19] <Bezalel3> 2Hi Farrell.

[20:19] <Sparrow26> 2and he was encouraging the citizens not to give up,

[20:19] <kmmullins> is Mr Sharon still specking this evening?

[20:20] <SabraFarrell> Shalom brothers and sisters :)

[20:20] <tryChrist> 6i think it is basicaly impossible to keep any place on the face of this planet terrorist free

[20:20] <IMB-Seeker> he spoke at 1:30 your time Karen

[20:20] <BobWestbrook> though some have said that "separation" is unworkable given the current placement of the "settlements" and they are probably right

[20:20] <Sparrow26> 2I believe that the current government has the resources they need to effectively end these attacks

[20:20] <BobWestbrook> But it is unlikely that Sharon would advocate abandoning any

[20:20] <Sparrow26> 2but have been too sensitive to international criticism to enact what would be:

[20:21] <BobWestbrook> yes, Sparrow

[20:21] <BobWestbrook> but one way or another, it will lead to that

[20:21] <Sparrow26> 2excellent PR, common sense precautions and a stronger presence diplomatically

[20:21] <BobWestbrook> this plan only forestalls the inevitable

[20:21] <Sparrow26> 2that is: countering the political attacks

[20:21] <IMB-Seeker> Listen, I know patience is a hard thing to swallow sometimes, especially in light of violence..but I think it will make for a mor decisive action later.

[20:21] <Sparrow26> 2I think the more we intercede on our knees

[20:22] <BobWestbrook> Good point, Seeker

[20:22] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Sparrow

[20:22] <SabraFarrell> right Sparrow - prayer is most effective

[20:22] <kmmullins> I agree Sarrow

[20:22] <BobWestbrook> poor Sharon is getting heat from everybody, the right and the left

[20:23] <IMB-Seeker> yes dawn, watch listen and pray

[20:23] <Sparrow26> 2the Israelis are going to tap their own creative wisdom to survive and defeat Arafat

[20:23] <BobWestbrook> Now, on to Ezekiel :)

[20:23] <SabraFarrell> When they ask for God's wisdom, He will hear and respond to them.

[20:23] <Sparrow26> 2exactly

[20:23] <IMB-Seeker> yes

[20:23] <BobWestbrook> Unless there are any other points you'd like to discuss first

[20:24] <SabraFarrell> yes Bob :)

[20:24] <IMB-Seeker> just the one on my head

[20:24] <IMB-Seeker> :)

[20:24] <Sparrow26> 2I'm all set

[20:24] <BobWestbrook> :)

[20:24] <BobWestbrook> OK :)

[20:24] <BobWestbrook> Lord, we ask you to teach us tonight

[20:24] <BobWestbrook> Everything is for you and about you, and your glory

[20:25] <BobWestbrook> open your Word to our hearts through your Holy Spirit

[20:25] <BobWestbrook> and give us our food :)

[20:25] <BobWestbrook> Amen

[20:25] <BobWestbrook> OK, you remember from last week we had an overview of the latter part of Ezekiel

[20:26] <SabraFarrell> yes

[20:26] <BobWestbrook> and now are going to get into more detail

[20:26] <BobWestbrook> chapter 33 is a summary chapter and a transition chapter....

[20:26] <BobWestbrook> Hi Eden!

[20:26] <IMB-Seeker> g'day Eden

[20:26] <EdenAli> Shalom friends and G'day

[20:26] <Bezalel3> 2Hi Eden, welcome!

[20:26] <SabraFarrell> Hi Eden

[20:27] <BobWestbrook> Chapter 33 deals with the "Watchman"

[20:27] <kmmullins> Hi Eden

[20:27] <EdenAli> got here finally, times zones argh!

[20:27] <IMB-Seeker> hows the morning over there Eden?

[20:27] <BobWestbrook> And is a chapter of warning

[20:27] <EdenAli> lunch time seeker, 12.23 pm cool day today

[20:27] <IMB-Seeker> ok..missed it

[20:27] <BobWestbrook> Does anyone recall the historical setting of Ezekiel? Time, place, circumstances?

[20:28] <IMB-Seeker> yes

[20:28] <Bezalel3> 2Babylonian exile?

[20:28] <EdenAli> the exile of the Jews to abylon

[20:28] <IMB-Seeker> in excile

[20:28] <BobWestbrook> Yup

[20:28] <BobWestbrook> Ezekiel was taken in the second group, with Daniel have been taken in the first I believe

[20:28] <BobWestbrook> but both were prior to the destruction of Jerusalem in 586

[20:29] <BobWestbrook> Nebuchadnezzar had to go there a couple times to deal with them because they first submitted and then rebelled against his empire

[20:30] <BobWestbrook> So... Ezekiel is in Babylon

[20:30] <IMB-Seeker> I read from Deuteronomy 28 today which gave graphic details of what disobeidence brings

[20:30] <EdenAli> Ezekiel was a priest?

[20:30] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Good point Seeker - God had given them very explicit warnings

[20:30] <BobWestbrook> and chapter 33 is an a sense a reiteration of those

[20:30] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Eden

[20:31] SabraFarrell868 [~SabraFarrell@jproxy11.talkcity.com] has joined #IsraelMyBeloved

[20:31] <BobWestbrook> Ezekiel was a man of broad knowledge and extensive education, apparently

[20:31] <BobWestbrook> given the scope of some of the subjects he addresses in certain prophecies

[20:31] <EdenAli> and he had the MOST amazing vision, which I have tried many times to decipher

[20:32] <BobWestbrook> Yes

[20:32] <BobWestbrook> At the beginning of 33, God reminds Ezekiel of his serious responsiblity to be a watchman

[20:32] <IMB-Seeker> talken about Bez?

[20:32] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:7 NIV) "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.

[20:33] <BobWestbrook> Interesting that Ezekiel is the only other person, that I'm aware anyway, that was given the title of "Son of Man"

[20:33] <EdenAli> Jesus was too

[20:33] <BobWestbrook> which is the title by which Jesus most frequently referred to HImself

[20:34] <BobWestbrook> :)

[20:34] <kmmullins> Hi Gran

[20:34] <BobWestbrook> When we look at Jesus, we are amazed that He is the Son of God, but from His perspective, it is amazing that He is "Son of Man" - that He shared our humanity

[20:34] <EdenAli> Shalom Gran :-)

[20:35] <tryChrist> 6Hi Gran

[20:35] <GranBland> 6:-)

[20:35] <GranBland> 6Eden good to see you also

[20:36] <BobWestbrook> In chapter 33, we get a glimpse of both God's grace and His severity

[20:36] <EdenAli> and you too Grawn

[20:36] <EdenAli> oops Gran

[20:36] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:10-11 NIV) "Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: "Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?"' {11} Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?'

[20:36] <GranBland> 6wow so many of you to say hi to

[20:36] <GranBland> 6thats a good one Eden

[20:36] <BobWestbrook> Many of us have experience the place where we were "wasting away" because of our sins

[20:37] <BobWestbrook> But God doesn't desire to see us heading to destruction, and always gives us the option to "Turn"

[20:39] <Rich_31> 7how you been

[20:39] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:12 NIV) "Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, 'The righteousness of the righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of the wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. The righteous man, if he sins, will not be allowed to live because of his former righteousness.'

[20:39] <Rich_31> 7where you been

[20:39] <GranBland> 6so now I had to add my last name

[20:39] <IMB-Seeker> ok Bob..sorry forthe sidetrack

[20:39] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:13 NIV) If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done.

[20:39] <BobWestbrook> :)

[20:39] <GranBland> 6doing good now dears

[20:39] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:14-15 NIV) And if I say to the wicked man, 'You will surely die,' but he then turns away from his sin and does what is just and right-- {15} if he gives back what he took in pledge for a loan, returns what he has stolen, follows the decrees that give life, and does no evil, he will surely live; he will not die.

[20:40] <BobWestbrook> This demonstrates God's incredible patience

[20:40] <Rich_31> 7thats good Gran

[20:40] <BobWestbrook> and also the sobering reminder that we dare not be careless about sinning

[20:40] <Bezalel3> 2Hallelujah to that, Bob.

[20:40] <GranBland> 6yes it sure is dear

[20:40] <IMB-Seeker> and its still there Bob

[20:41] <kmmullins> Amen

[20:41] <GranBland> 6yes what would we all do without HIS glorious patience

[20:41] <BobWestbrook> without it I would not be talking to you all

[20:41] <tryChrist> 6i would waste away... just in the guilt of it all

[20:42] <IMB-Seeker> this time he missed us

[20:42] <GranBland> 6yes for sure

[20:42] <BobWestbrook> We must never forget His grace, and think we have messed up too bad to go back and "Turn"

[20:42] <Rich_31> 7me too Miller

[20:42] <GranBland> 6oh I see

[20:42] <GranBland> 6went to look at the apartment just got back

[20:42] <Rich_31> 7for sure Bob

[20:42] <tryChrist> 6right you are Bob, right you are

[20:42] <EdenAli> Grace is better than being under Law

[20:43] <IMB-Seeker> Hey this sounds like NT teaching!

[20:43] <Rich_31> 7yep Eden hi by the way

[20:43] <BobWestbrook> :) Yupper, it's all one cohesive book :)

[20:43] <GranBland> 6yes wonderful Grace

[20:43] <BobWestbrook> Now, in the midst of this, Ezekiel encounters a messenger.... coming from Jerusalem

[20:43] <EdenAli> G'day Rich:-)

[20:43] <IMB-Seeker> :)

[20:43] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:21 NIV) In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month on the fifth day, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said, "The city has fallen!"

[20:43] <Bezalel3> 2But loosely organized, right, Bob?

[20:44] <BobWestbrook> Loose in my brain, real tight in God's :)

[20:44] <EdenAli> wrong Bez its connected

[20:44] <Bezalel3> 2:-)

[20:44] <BobWestbrook> According to my study Bible, the date given in v 21 was 5 months after the fact in 586 BC

[20:45] <BobWestbrook> and it would take about 4 months for the journey

[20:45] <BobWestbrook> So the exiles get the sad news about Jerusalem

[20:45] <Rich_31> 7go on Bob

[20:45] <Rich_31> 7exiles in babylon Bob

[20:46] <BobWestbrook> Which led some of them to compose Psalm 137 which we touched on last week, thanks to our guest :)

[20:46] <BobWestbrook> (Psalms 137:1 NIV) By the rivers of Babylon we sat and wept when we remembered Zion.

[20:46] <EdenAli> LOL

[20:46] <BobWestbrook> (Psalms 137:2-3 NIV) There on the poplars we hung our harps, {3} for there our captors asked us for songs, our tormentors demanded songs of joy; they said, "Sing us one of the songs of Zion!"

[20:47] <BobWestbrook> (Psalms 137:4 NIV) How can we sing the songs of the LORD while in a foreign land?

[20:47] <Rich_31> 7how cruel of them

[20:47] <BobWestbrook> yes

[20:47] <BobWestbrook> (Psalms 137:5-6 NIV) If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. {6} May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth if I do not remember you, if I do not consider Jerusalem my highest joy.

[20:47] <BobWestbrook> Verses 5 and 6 have been a theme for centuries for those who had been in exile, never forgetting Jerusalem

[20:48] <Rich_31> 7but the Lord saved them to return to Jerusalem later

[20:48] <BobWestbrook> Yes

[20:48] <BobWestbrook> Just as he did the "second time" in our era

[20:48] <Rich_31> 7yep and isn't glorious to see happening

[20:48] <BobWestbrook> Sure is!!!!

[20:48] <EdenAli> the return is in Nemehiah, read that today

[20:49] <BobWestbrook> :) Nehemiah is a man of ACTION :)

[20:49] <tryChrist> 6shall a city be born in one day... you bet ya !!! :)

[20:49] <BobWestbrook> but back to Ezekiel...

[20:49] <EdenAli> loved his methods, a no nonsense man!

[20:49] <BobWestbrook> yupper

[20:49] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:21-22 NIV) In the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth month on the fifth day, a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said, "The city has fallen!" {22} Now the evening before the man arrived, the hand of the LORD was upon me, and he opened my mouth before the man came to me in the morning. So my mouth was opened and I was no longer silent.

[20:50] <Rich_31> 7kind of a commander huh Eden

[20:50] <BobWestbrook> Apparently Ezekiel had been mute for some time as a sign to them from the Lord (see 3:26-27)

[20:51] <Rich_31> 7OK

[20:51] <EdenAli> He just got the job done Rich refused any other options, fought fire with fire

[20:51] <Rich_31> 7a rel good man of the Lord Eden

[20:52] <BobWestbrook> Next the Lord tells Ezekiel to warn them about complacency and presumption

[20:52] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:23-24 NIV) Then the word of the LORD came to me: {24} "Son of man, the people living in those ruins in the land of Israel are saying, 'Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as our possession.'

[20:52] <EdenAli> yup Rich

[20:52] IMB-Seeker [~IMB-Seeker@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has quit IRC (IMB-Seeker has left the room)

[20:52] <Rich_31> 7complacency hard not to do sometimes

[20:53] <BobWestbrook> Then in the following verse issues an indictment of their sin, with the conclusion of "Should you then possess the land?'

[20:53] <EdenAli> aha there it is bob, they knew the promise of Zion was forever

[20:54] <Rich_31> 7it is for sure Eden

[20:54] <Rich_31> 7for ever and ever

[20:54] <BobWestbrook> Remember that this chapter is transitional in nature, the summary of God's dealings with them before He begins to outline the future consolation in the chapters to follow

[20:54] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 33:28-29 NIV) I will make the land a desolate waste, and her proud strength will come to an end, and the mountains of Israel will become desolate so that no one will cross them. {29} Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have made the land a desolate waste because of all the detestable things they have done.'

[20:54] <GranBland> 6yes for ever and ever

[20:54] <BobWestbrook> Amen :)

[20:55] <Rich_31> 7seems like people would have learned it by now huh Bob

[20:55] <BobWestbrook> And we have seen that indeed the "Beautiful Land" became a "desolate waste" for many centuries, in direct fulfillment of v 28

[20:55] <BobWestbrook> 29

[20:55] <BobWestbrook> until God began calling them back in the late 1800s

[20:55] <Rich_31> 7yep

[20:56] <Rich_31> 7it took a lot of time and work but look at it now

[20:56] <EdenAli> and then Babylon became a desolate waste as Isiah prophesied 170 years earlier

[20:56] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Rich, and all in fulfillment of very specific prophecies

[20:56] <BobWestbrook> Right, Eden!

[20:57] <Rich_31> 7yep Bob

[20:57] <BobWestbrook> On to chapter 34 :)

[20:58] <EdenAli> dont you just love God's payback

[20:58] <BobWestbrook> Some would say that chapter 34 deals with the past, but I don't agree with that

[20:58] <Rich_31> 7yep Eden He is just for sure

[20:58] <BobWestbrook> I believe that it is the first of the chapters in this section dealing with the present and future

[20:59] <tryChrist> 6He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her waste places like the garden of the Lord Is. 51:3

[20:59] <BobWestbrook> So what's the first thing in this chapter? Who is Ezekiel addressing?

[20:59] <Rich_31> 7sounds real good Miller

[21:00] <Rich_31> 7I'll have to get my Bible

[21:00] <BobWestbrook> Amen, Miller

[21:00] <EdenAli> The teachers of the people, the priests, the pastors of our times?

[21:01] <BobWestbrook> Yes, by application, Eden, but the primary interpretation is to Israel

[21:01] <BobWestbrook> We could say the theme of this chapter is the contrast of the bad shepherds to the Good Shepherd

[21:01] <EdenAli> ok :-)

[21:02] <Rich_31> 7might be Bob

[21:02] <BobWestbrook> The shepherds were given the spiritual responsibility to lead the people to God

[21:02] <Rich_31> 7to feed them

[21:02] <BobWestbrook> to extend to everyone the true knowledge of God

[21:02] kmmullins [~kmmullins@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has left #IsraelMyBeloved

[21:03] <BobWestbrook> Instead, these shepherds have not cared about the flock but only about themselves

[21:03] <Rich_31> 7show them how to live the way that brings blessings

[21:03] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 34:10 NIV) This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am against the shepherds and will hold them accountable for my flock. I will remove them from tending the flock so that the shepherds can no longer feed themselves. I will rescue my flock from their mouths, and it will no longer be food for them.

[21:03] <EdenAli> hmm sounds familiar

[21:03] <BobWestbrook> These shepherds will be removed and God Himself will shepherd Israel

[21:04] <EdenAli> Jesus!!!!!!!

[21:04] <Rich_31> 7through our Lord Jesus??

[21:04] <BobWestbrook> There are clues that it is talking about today also extending into the Kingdom of Jesus

[21:04] <BobWestbrook> Yes, exactly

[21:04] <Rich_31> 7Amen

[21:04] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 34:13 NIV) I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.

[21:04] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 34:14 NIV) I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel.

[21:05] <BobWestbrook> This is the first statement of a kind of theme that we will see much in the next several chapters

[21:05] <Rich_31> 7our Blessed hope

[21:05] <BobWestbrook> And the Lord Himself is Shepherd:

[21:05] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 34:15-16 NIV) I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign LORD. {16} I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice.

[21:05] <Rich_31> 7yes and His sheep know His voice

[21:06] <BobWestbrook> We love the Jewish people, of course. But we don't love the religious systems that have led them away from the knowledge of God

[21:06] ^JW [~^JW@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has joined #IsraelMyBeloved

[21:06] <EdenAli> systems? traditions?

[21:06] <BobWestbrook> Those "shepherds" who invented that kind of religion will be removed, according to the Lord

[21:06] <Rich_31> 7for sure Bob

[21:07] <GranBland> 6yes

[21:07] ^JW [~^JW@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has left #IsraelMyBeloved

[21:07] <BobWestbrook> This is a foreshadowing of the spiritual renewal that will take place among the Jewish people

[21:07] <Rich_31> 7the ones that make themselves fat at the sheeps expence huh

[21:07] <BobWestbrook> Leading ultimately to their recognition of their "Good Shepherd"

[21:07] <BobWestbrook> right, Rich

[21:08] <EdenAli> and that is happening right now, PTL

[21:08] <BobWestbrook> And here, then, is a very clear statement of Messianic import:

[21:08] <Bezalel3> 2They will recognize the Messiah they missed the first time around.

[21:08] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 34:23-24 NIV) I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd. {24} I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them. I the LORD have spoken.

[21:08] <BobWestbrook> When it says "David" here it means "Son of David", or Messiah

[21:08] <GranBland> 6yes

[21:09] <EdenAli> Root of David?

[21:09] <Rich_31> 7Jesus

[21:09] <BobWestbrook> Yes

[21:09] <Rich_31> 7root and offspring

[21:09] <BobWestbrook> The end of this chapter is summarized here:

[21:09] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 34:30-31 NIV) Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Sovereign LORD. {31} You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign LORD.'"

[21:09] <tryChrist> 6Yeshua will tend us all!

[21:09] <Rich_31> 7doubling His right to the Throne

[21:09] <BobWestbrook> Israel will KNOW

[21:10] <BobWestbrook> Many Jews today doubt the whole concept of being God's "chosen people"

[21:10] <Rich_31> 7I can't wait to see it

[21:10] <BobWestbrook> but it says the will know they "are my people"

[21:11] <Bezalel3> 2That causes them to NOT call on the Lord to resolve today's issues.

[21:11] <Rich_31> 7I remember when He introduced Himself to me it will be more gloriuos for them

[21:11] <BobWestbrook> Right, Bez

[21:11] <BobWestbrook> Sure will, Rich :)

[21:11] <tryChrist> 6back to the education thing on that , Bob

[21:11] <BobWestbrook> (John 10:14-15 NIV) "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me-- {15} just as the Father knows me and I know the Father--and I lay down my life for the sheep.

[21:11] The_Interested [~The_Interested@jproxy14.talkcity.com] has quit IRC (The_Interested has left the room)

[21:11] <BobWestbrook> (John 10:16 NIV) I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

[21:11] <EdenAli> but the actions of modern Israel show they are still trying to keep themselves separate even if they dont realise the scriptural basis for it

[21:12] <BobWestbrook> True, Eden

[21:12] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Miller?

[21:12] <BobWestbrook> The Good Shepherd showed the extent of His care by laying down His life for the sheep!

[21:13] <Rich_31> 7oh friends I have to go God Bless you all good night

[21:13] <tryChrist> 6the philosophies of the modern jewish teachings, combined with the anger of old will continue to keep yeshua's name out of judaism

[21:13] <Sparrow26> 2bye rich

[21:13] <EdenAli> GBY Rich Shalom

[21:13] <GranBland> 6God bless rich

[21:13] <tryChrist> 6we have a hard job to do :)

[21:13] <Rich_31> 7Love all of ya's

[21:13] <BobWestbrook> See ya rich

[21:14] <GranBland> 6yepers Rich

[21:14] Rich_31 [~Rich_31@jproxy14.talkcity.com] has quit IRC (Rich_31 has left the room)

[21:14] <Sparrow26> 2I agree try

[21:14] <BobWestbrook> True, Miller, but God Himself is doing some amazing things even today

[21:14] <GranBland> 6yes

[21:14] <EdenAli> yes He is!

[21:14] <tryChrist> 6absolutely Bob !

[21:14] <GranBland> 6as only HE can do

[21:15] <BobWestbrook> Did any of you hear the interview today on JPost Radio of Elwood McQuaid?

[21:15] <tryChrist> 6the Torah says it plainly, and yet...

[21:15] <EdenAli> no

[21:15] <GranBland> 6nope

[21:15] <Bezalel3> 2unh-uh

[21:16] <BobWestbrook> you should listen to it - the Lord is bringing Christians and Jews together in amazing ways today

[21:16] <BobWestbrook> many people's attitudes are changing

[21:16] <GranBland> 6where do you hear him Bob

[21:17] <BobWestbrook> jpostradio.com

[21:17] <GranBland> 6oh

[21:17] <EdenAli> how are their attitudes changing bob?

[21:17] <tryChrist> 6perhaps i should check it out and add it to our next news letter

[21:17] <BobWestbrook> He is a Christion Zionist, a good man, and they interview him every week

[21:18] <GranBland> 6what time etc

[21:18] <BobWestbrook> more open to friendships with Christians, believing that we really are their friends... and...

[21:19] <BobWestbrook> I've seen in the correspondence i receive from Jewish people regarding my writings that they more willing to not be "hung up" on who Jesus is, in other words, not keeping our disagreement from being friends

[21:20] <Sparrow26> 2Joel 2

[21:20] <GranBland> 6oh thats good

[21:20] <EdenAli> great! thats a start

[21:20] <BobWestbrook> We can expect that this trend will continue and increase

[21:20] <tryChrist> 6leaving a good atmosphere, with possibilities

[21:20] <BobWestbrook> exactly

[21:21] <tryChrist> 6pray!

[21:21] <GranBland> 6yes

[21:21] <BobWestbrook> Elwood addresses the issue of "prosylezation" very well in the radio interview

[21:21] <EdenAli> so we can expect lots of Jewish people to cross our paths

[21:21] <BobWestbrook> I spelled that wrong :)

[21:21] <GranBland> 6well we got the idea Bob

[21:21] <GranBland> 6I can t spell it either

[21:22] <BobWestbrook> In recent weeks I've gotten terrific letters from a profession in Ariel Israel who linked to my prophetic maps...

[21:22] <GranBland> 6oh wow Bob thats great

[21:22] <BobWestbrook> and also from a well know motivational speaker in NYC - we have a great dialogue going

[21:22] <GranBland> 6getting better and better

[21:23] <EdenAli> told you bob the Lord was training you up:-)

[21:23] <Bezalel3> 2Amen, Eden.....:-)

[21:23] <BobWestbrook> Gran, the radio interview is "on demand" - click on it and it plays in RealAudio

[21:23] <GranBland> 6O

[21:24] <BobWestbrook> I guess we will stop at Ezek 34 and do 35 and 36 next week

[21:25] <Sparrow26> 2I have to go, but I will check our jpost.com. Have a blessed evening everyone, God Bless you.

[21:25] <BobWestbrook> See ya Sparrow!

[21:25] <tryChrist> 6night sparrow

[21:25] <GranBland> 6bod bless Sparrow

[21:25] <GranBland> 6God bless that is

[21:25] <EdenAli> ok, but please what do think Eze saw in this vision of Ch 1

[21:25] Sparrow26 [~Sparrow26@jproxy12.talkcity.com] has quit IRC (Sparrow26 has left the room)

[21:25] <BobWestbrook> Chapter 35 is God's answer to Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and Al Aqsa

[21:25] <EdenAli> GBY Sparrow

[21:26] <GranBland> 6I need to go also dear ones see you tomorrow night

[21:26] <BobWestbrook> Night Gran! Always a pleasure!

[21:27] <GranBland> 6so good to see you again Eden

[21:27] <GranBland> 6byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for now BEz seeker bob and all need to go

[21:27] <GranBland> 6love you all

[21:27] <Bezalel3> 2Night Gran

[21:27] GranBland [~GranBland@jproxy14.talkcity.com] has quit IRC (GranBland has left the room)

[21:28] <BobWestbrook> She's a marvelous "Gran" :)

[21:28] <Bezalel3> 2Amen, to that, Bob.

[21:28] <tryChrist> 6so true. we all need a gran in our lives :)

[21:28] <EdenAli> yup :-)

[21:29] <EdenAli> Bob, asking again politely, any ideas on Vision in Ch 1

[21:29] <BobWestbrook> Eden, in chapter 1, Ezekiel saw a vision of heaven and received his commission from the Lord, right?

[21:29] <tryChrist> 6may i put in a plug for anyone in the atlanta metro area?

[21:29] <EdenAli> yes and.......

[21:30] <Bezalel3> 2Gran just left, Miller....:-)

[21:30] <BobWestbrook> Similar to the things Isaiah and John and others saw

[21:30] <BobWestbrook> sure, Miller!

[21:30] <EdenAli> ok so visions of others are all linked?

[21:30] <tryChrist> 6ooppss, that's right. but i think she is a bit north

[21:30] <BobWestbrook> well, they all apparently saw God's throne and the creatures around it

[21:30] <BobWestbrook> and His magnificent glory

[21:30] <Bezalel3> 2I believe she said it was an hour or so to Atlanta.

[21:31] <tryChrist> 6there is a new, and MUCH NEEDED, messianic congregation coming together. Hope Of David Messianic Fellowship http://hopeofdavid.org

[21:31] <BobWestbrook> Great, Miller!

[21:31] <EdenAli> you know when I get to Paradise I want to see the video on that vision

[21:32] <BobWestbrook> You won't need to see the video, you'll see it live!

[21:32] <BobWestbrook> because that scene continues as we speak

[21:32] <EdenAli> wow! hope so

[21:32] <tryChrist> 6every seat will be a good seat too :)

[21:32] <BobWestbrook> no need to hope so, it's a sure thing

[21:33] <BobWestbrook> and as we pray today, our prayers rise as incense in that scene, before God's throne

[21:33] <EdenAli> then I will be able to see those incridible creatures at the corner of the throne

[21:34] <EdenAli> what do those creatures symbolise?

[21:34] <BobWestbrook> and the creatures are still yelling out "Holy Holy Holy" even now

[21:34] <BobWestbrook> perpetually praise the greatness of God

[21:35] <Bezalel3> 2And the elders are falling on their faces, and worshipping.

[21:35] <EdenAli> are they angels then?

[21:35] <BobWestbrook> they may not symbolize anything, necessarily - they are majestic beings created to worship God

[21:35] <BobWestbrook> yes, some kind of angelic beings apparently

[21:36] <EdenAli> I know I am being a pain but I have written thousands of words about this vision and I still cant see all there is to see

[21:36] <BobWestbrook> I suspect that is the first scene we will see when our time here is done

[21:36] <BobWestbrook> not a pain at all :)

[21:36] <BobWestbrook> (Ezekiel 1:26-27 NIV) Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man. {27} I saw that from what appeared to be his waist up he looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and that from there down he looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded him.

[21:37] <EdenAli> The Seraphim?

[21:37] <BobWestbrook> Jesus

[21:37] <EdenAli> the burning ones

[21:37] <Bezalel3> 2Just listened to Elwood McQuaid.....great comments about proselytizing...

[21:38] <Bezalel3> 2Thanks for the heads up, Bob.

[21:38] <EdenAli> sorry Bob stop me I am boring everyone to tears and radio programs

[21:38] <Bezalel3> 2No, Eden, I was following your comments avidly....:-)

[21:39] <EdenAli> your nose will grow long Bez :-)

[21:39] <Bezalel3> 2No way. I wouldn't lie to you, of all people, Eden.

[21:39] <BobWestbrook> just a minute folks - got a phone call - proceed without me :)

[21:39] <EdenAli> as long as its not Jesus

[21:39] <Bezalel3> 2I am just used to multi-tasking, since I do everything on the computer.

[21:41] <EdenAli> I'm impressed Bez I cant even handle more than one web page at a time

[21:41] <Bezalel3> 2The four creatures are fascinating. Too bad Bob can't explain them to us...:-)

[21:41] <Bezalel3> 2Like he said, John has a vision of the same setup in Revelation.

[21:41] <EdenAli> it must be a sin, but I am SOOOOOOO fascinated by this vision

[21:42] <tryChrist> 6can you imagine what was gowing thru john's mind?

[21:42] <EdenAli> I even read Jewish commentaries to try and understand it

[21:42] <Bezalel3> 2The last time I read Revelation, I also noted the fact that the 24 elders would leap from their thrones and worship the Lord, almost continually.

[21:43] <tryChrist> 6.... got go. phone call myself.

[21:44] <Bezalel3> 2Wasn't it Daniel who saw them with wheels that allowed them to move in any direction?

[21:44] <Bezalel3> 2Night Miller.

[21:44] <EdenAli> GBY try Shalom

[21:44] <tryChrist> 6night

[21:44] tryChrist [~tryChrist@jproxy14.talkcity.com] has quit IRC (tryChrist has left the room)

[21:44] <EdenAli> and Ezekiel

[21:45] <BobWestbrook> I'm back

[21:45] <EdenAli> you know even the unbelivers are interested in this vision, they have tried to explain it as a UFO visit!!!!

[21:45] <Bezalel3> 2They must be important, since they appeared in so many visions of the throne.

[21:46] <BobWestbrook> when I pray, I often try to "imagine" that scene, because that is to whom we are praying (but its not imagination at all because it is an ongoing reality)

[21:46] <EdenAli> I am sure there is something there, dont know what though

[21:46] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Bez, the Lord has given us glimpses of the spiritual realities beyond our physical realm

[21:47] <Bezalel3> 2Can you imagine receiving visions so clearly and absolutely.

[21:47] <EdenAli> I know I know!!!!!!!! but living in this dimension means you cant see it

[21:47] <Bezalel3> 2I guess I'll have to settle for the angel in the clouds.....

[21:47] <BobWestbrook> Nope, I'd be scared to death (Daniel et al) were....

[21:48] <BobWestbrook> but they were given those visions not just for themselves, but for us

[21:48] <Bezalel3> 2Yes.

[21:48] <EdenAli> not me, I would see as the greatest blessings ever

[21:48] <BobWestbrook> which is why they took such care to communicate as well as they could

[21:48] <BobWestbrook> even though words cannot express such things

[21:49] <Bezalel3> 2But, when we get there, it will all come clear.

[21:49] <BobWestbrook> yup

[21:49] <EdenAli> oh dear what did I just say?

[21:49] <BobWestbrook> (1 Corinthians 13:12 NASB) For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known.

[21:50] <Bezalel3> 2That you would consider direct visions as a blessing, Eden.

[21:50] <EdenAli> oh good feeling better now after that verse, got a fright thought I might end up seeing the vision

[21:50] <Bezalel3> 2You always have good scriptural quotation, don't you, Bob.

[21:50] <BobWestbrook> God brings things to my mind :)

[21:51] <EdenAli> just as well too :-)

[21:51] <Bezalel3> 2I feel pushes....not anything so direct as a vision.

[21:52] <EdenAli> only saw one vision, couldn't handle it, the Lord sent 3 people who didn't realise what they were saying, to setttle me

[21:52] <BobWestbrook> I'm quite wary of most today who claim "visions"

[21:52] <Bezalel3> 2I sure got a feeling of peace and contentment last night, though.

[21:52] <BobWestbrook> Many are bogus or worse

[21:53] <BobWestbrook> Yes, Bez, isn't it wonderful those times when we are alone with the Lord, and He gives us the reassurance of His presence

[21:53] <Bezalel3> 2Like Benny Hinn saying he had a vision of Jesus on the dais with him in South America.

[21:53] <BobWestbrook> yeah

[21:54] <Bezalel3> 2It didn't cut down on his followers when he returned empty-handed, though.

[21:54] <EdenAli> I dont knock others spiritual gifts because there is always an unreality in them for others

[21:54] <BobWestbrook> It's a very very serious offense when one claims to have a dream or vision from the Lord but it is not

[21:55] <BobWestbrook> (Jeremiah 23:25-26 NIV) "I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, 'I had a dream! I had a dream!' {26} How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?

[21:55] <Bezalel3> 2You're right, Eden. But, some are so obviously in it for the riches, it is difficult not to criticize.

[21:55] <BobWestbrook> Right

[21:56] <EdenAli> yes I know but Deut dont know Ch and verse says that the true test of prophesy is whether is happens or not

[21:56] <BobWestbrook> Like Jesse Duplantis, who is openly greedy and claims to have been taken up to heaven with the Lord, but the details he relates are absurd

[21:57] <EdenAli> dont know him

[21:57] <Bezalel3> 2Yup. But I remember also, reading scripture that said something to the effect that all who spread the word are accomplishing some good.

[21:57] <BobWestbrook> That's true, Eden - but also, God told them that even if what was prophesied did happen, but that "prophet" was proclaiming a different kind of God, to ignore him

[21:58] <BobWestbrook> True, Bez

[21:58] <EdenAli> I listen to everyone and then wait for the Holy Spirit to show me the truth of things, He is the Teacher

[21:58] <Bezalel3> 2Amen, Eden. I try to do that way also.

[21:58] <Bezalel3> 2Except, Bob. I always believe what he says....:-)

[21:59] <BobWestbrook> LOL - don't do that!

[21:59] <BobWestbrook> Cuz I'm the biggest bozo of all! I know that well enough!

[21:59] <Bezalel3> 2You've never led me TOO far astray, Bob.

[21:59] <Bezalel3> 2In fact, you've generally pointed me in the right direction, and then let me learn in my heart.

[22:00] <EdenAli> you have a gift regarding the future of Israel so it will continue to develop with the times, your inspiration comes from the Lord not you

[22:00] <Bezalel3> 2I check Trumpet Sounds (almost) daily to see if you have any new writings.

[22:00] <BobWestbrook> Right - that's the way to do it - don't take any person's teaching as is

[22:01] <Bezalel3> 2I even watched your 1.5 hour video.

[22:01] <BobWestbrook> wow - with our without popcorn? :)

[22:01] <Bezalel3> 2Without. And paid attention.

[22:01] <BobWestbrook> :)

[22:02] <EdenAli> video?

[22:02] <Bezalel3> 2Only one criticism, you need an easel for your maps...:-)

[22:02] <BobWestbrook> Yeah, on my website (also is on IMB) a prophecy teaching video

[22:02] <Bezalel3> 2Yes, Eden, on Trumpt Sounds.

[22:02] <BobWestbrook> Yeah, I agree - the map didn't work well :)

[22:02] <Bezalel3> 2Trumpet

[22:02] <EdenAli> asamed now, been reading avidly on the Cutting Edge recently

[22:02] <EdenAli> ashamed

[22:02] <Bezalel3> 2Cutting Edge?

[22:03] <EdenAli> The Cutting Edge web site, love it

[22:03] <Bezalel3> 2Is that a web site?

[22:03] <Bezalel3> 2www.cuttingedge.com?

[22:03] <BobWestbrook> I've seen it before, interesting stuff

[22:03] <BobWestbrook> Well, folks, I need to run :)

[22:03] <EdenAli> thats it

[22:04] <BobWestbrook> Thanks again for making this the "cutting edge" of chats, as Bez said last week :)

[22:04] <Bezalel3> 2Okay, Bob. Thanks for another adventure....see you next week.
