[23:09] <VCI-Bob> (Hosea 1:6 NIV) "Gomer conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the LORD said to Hosea, "Call her Lo-Ruhamah, for I will no longer show love to the house of Israel, that I should at all forgive them."

[23:09] <VCI-Bob> Lo-Ruhamah means "not loved"

[23:09] <VCI-Bob> what a name for your daughter

[23:10] <VCI-Bob> (Hosea 1:8-9 NIV) "After she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, Gomer had another son. {9} Then the LORD said, "Call him Lo-Ammi, for you are not my people, and I am not your God."

[23:11] <VCI-Bob> Now, Hosea is one of those numerous examples of the Lord's sternness, and great compassion - we see these characteristics side by side often in the prophetic books

[23:11] <VCI-Bob> Even in this somber prophecy, Hosea sees ahead to a better time:

[23:11] <VCI-Bob> (Hosea 1:10-11 NIV) ""Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,' they will be called 'sons of the living God.' {11} The people of Judah and the people of Israel will be reunited, and they will appoint one leader and will come up out of the land, for great will be the day of Jezreel."

[23:12] <VCI-Bob> and it is a reference to the day when God would plant Israel back in the land, as one people, and call them "his people" once again!!

[23:24] <VCI-Bob> (Hosea 3:3 NRSV) "And I said to her, "You must remain as mine for many days; you shall not play the whore, you shall not have intercourse with a man, nor I with you.""

[23:24] <VCI-Bob> (Hosea 3:3-5 NRSV) "And I said to her, "You must remain as mine for many days; you shall not play the whore, you shall not have intercourse with a man, nor I with you." {4} For the Israelites shall remain many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or pillar, without ephod or teraphim. {5} Afterward the Israelites shall return and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; they shall come in awe to the LORD and to his goodness in the latter days."

[23:24] <VCI-Bob> Verse 4 is Israel for 20 centuries - bought back, but not intimate
