[22:42] <VCI-Bob> the second bombing yesterday, a Border Police officer and an IDF officer were killed and a border policeman and soldier wounded by a bomb explosion that occurred as they were defusing another bomb, on the Green Line approximately two km. from the Sufa crossing in the southern Gaza Strip.

[22:42] <VCI-Bob> The IDF officer was identified as Capt. Gadi Marsha, an Ethiopian immigrant who lived in Kiryat Arba and had received an outstanding officer award. The Border Police officer was identified as Sgt.-Maj. Yonathan Vermullen, 29, of Ben Shemen. Vermullen, a Christian immigrant, had come to Israel with his parents at age four, and remained in Israel when his parents returned to Holland 10 years ago. He joined the IDF in 1993, and after completing his military service, joined the police

Vermullen was killed on the spot, and Marsha died shortly after arriving at Soroka Hospital, Beersheba, where the wounded had been evacuated by helicopter. The two wounded men were said to be in good and good-to-satisfactory condition.
