Ezekiel's End-Time Blueprint

June 29, 2003

Masterpieces of literature are studied, scrutinized, and discussed at length because they are thought to provide some insight into the human condition. Though they may be considered timeless and priceless, in reality they are not, especially in comparison to the inspired Scriptures of the Bible.

God's words as revealed to us in the Bible are "forever settled in heaven." They make even the most superb work of human literature look pathetic in comparison. At least, they do for those who appreciate their import, which is very few people. How much more should the Holy Scriptures be scrutinized for gems of insight?

If this document, the Bible, is as essential as we say it is, why then are so few people even vaguely familiar with much of it? Mastery of its contents is not even a goal for most. We have assumed that intensive examination is to be relegated to the professionals, the "experts", the ministers. No, no, no! If we get our understanding of the Bible primarily from Sunday morning sermons, like many, we will remain woefully ignorant. Worse, we are only getting our understanding secondhand, instead of directly from the mouth of the Lord.

There is a section of a book (seven chapters) of the Hebrew section of the Bible that contains, in quick succession, an entire blueprint for some significant trends and events in Jewish history for the last 2000 years. It includes the assignment of the Son of Man as the designated prophet for Israel, and the prediction that Israel would ignore his message. It also contains the denunciation of the religious leaders of Israel for being detrimental rather than beneficial, and the announcement of their removal and replacement with a worthwhile Shepherd. It predicts the long term physical desolation of the land of Israel, and the eventual reversal of that process. It also describes in great detail the demise of the abominable neighbors of Israel who plot maliciously plot her destruction, the Arab/Muslim nations.

This series of chapters contains even more fabulous prophecies, including a detailed description of the restoration of the entire land of Israel back to the Jews. Even better, it describes the spiritual restoration of Israel as well, with the Messiah as their King forever. Then it describes a final cataclysmic battle that results in a crushing defeat of the hordes of armies trying to destroy Israel. This important section of the Bible also contains a great deal of editorial, summary information from the Lord Himself, explaining why He has dealt with Israel in the manner He has.

Take a look this outline of the end section of the book of Ezekiel. Hopefully it will make you eager to dig deeper into that portion of God's message for answers about our times and the future. (This uses the Flash browser plug-in).
